We're looking for someone who can keep the yard and warehouse safe, organised and moving well. You'll support the team, manage the flow of materials, work closely with contractors and collection crews, and help ensure that reusable and recyclable materials reach where they can create the most value.This is a practical leadership role for someone who likes being on the floor, solving problems, supporting people, and making things work well.
About the role:
As Yard and Warehouse Supervisor, you'll work closely with the Site Manager to support the safe and efficient operation of the yard and warehouse at Tāmaki Zero Waste Hub.
You'll lead daily routines, allocate tasks, support safe material handling, coordinate bins and recovered materials, and help manage the movement of people, vehicles, forklifts, mobile plant, contractors, and visitors across the site.
You'll also play an important role in creating a positive, practical, and values-led team culture where people are clear, supported, and proud of the work.
About you:
You'll bring:
- Proven experience in a yard, warehouse, logistics, waste, resource recovery, or similar operational environment
- Strong people leadership and team-building capability
- A hands-on approach and willingness to jump in where needed
- Good understanding of operational health and safety
- Experience working safely around forklifts, vehicles, and mobile plant
- Strong organisation, communication, and follow-through
- A practical, calm, and solutions-focused mindset
- Confidence working in a busy, physical, public-facing environment
- A current full driver's licence
Forklift certification, F endorsement, or experience in resource recovery, recycling, reuse, or social enterprise would be an advantage.
What you'll be doing: - Lead the day-to-day operation of the yard and warehouse
- Support a safe, tidy, and well-organised site
- Run daily routines, toolbox meetings, and task allocation
- Manage the flow of materials through the site
- Support the strong recovery of reusable and recyclable materials
- Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, community collectors, and collection crews
- Support safe movement of vehicles, forklifts, mobile plant, bins, staff, and visitors
- Work closely with the Site Manager and Retail Supervisor
- Help build a capable, positive, and accountable team
- Identify and escalate safety, maintenance, plant, property, or operational issues early
