About Storypark Our purpose is to help every child fulfil their unique potential by empowering the educators and organisations who shape their early years.
We are well-established as market leaders in New Zealand and Australia and are trusted by over 12,000 early learning services globally. We’re now on a mission to deepen the impact our product makes even further, building the platform early childhood organisations trust to run their services, engage families and improve outcomes for children.
Storypark has recently acquired leading Australian childcare management platform Xap, bringing together our best-in-class family engagement and learning documentation tools with the operational tools educators need: enrolments, onboarding, funding and compliance, all working seamlessly together. By giving early learning services more time back from admin, we help them focus on what matters most: nurturing children’s learning, strengthening family partnerships and creating thriving early learning communities.
What you’ll be doing This is an exciting time to join the Storypark finance team and a great opportunity to deepen your financial accounting expertise while we bring multiple entities together into a cohesive group structure.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you'll be the engine behind our day-to-day financial accounting and reporting operations. You’ll keep the books accurate, the processes tight, and the business well-informed – enabling us to make good decisions and keep growing.
You’ll join a passionate, collaborative and outcome focussed team where you’ll be given real autonomy, supported well, and encouraged to bring your initiative and ideas. You’ll be based in Wellington, with a hybrid working arrangement of at least two days a week in the office.
Day to day you’ll: - Execute the month-end and year-end close: balance sheet reconciliations, P&L to trial balance, prepayments, accruals, and revenue in advance schedules
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports
- Manage accounts payable, receivable and billing processes end-to-end
- Handle Australian compliance: quarterly BAS, monthly payroll tax returns, and data collation for annual R&D claims
- Liaise with external accountants and auditors
- Partner with internal stakeholders on finance-related queries, including customer billing and new customer contracts
- Work across Xero and MYOB Acumatica, keeping processes tight and reporting reliable across both systems
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Identify and drive improvements to financial processes and systems as we scale
What you’ll bring At Storypark, we value curiosity, collaboration and a growth mindset. You’re someone who builds strong relationships, communicates clearly and takes pride in doing high-quality work. You’re comfortable working in a changing environment, able to balance detail with pragmatism and are motivated by helping the business run well. You’ll also be open to new tools and ways of working and curious about how AI can improve the way finance teams operate.
You’ll also bring:
- CA/CPA qualification (or working towards it) with least 3+ years of financial accounting experience
- Strong technical foundation across month-end, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Ideally, experience supporting tax, audit and statutory compliance requirements
- Strong Excel skills and experience with Xero or similar accounting software
- Exposure to ERP systems such as MYOB Acumatica, NetSuite, or similar would be highly valued
- Comfort in a hands-on environment, working across a broad remit
- Strong communication skills and confidence working with both finance and non-finance stakeholders
- Exposure to multi-entity, group structure, or Australian finance would be an advantage
- Experience in a tech or SaaS business and familiarity with early childhood education is a bonus, but not essential
