Automation Engineer

Listed 2 days ago

About Us
Adminis is on a mission to transform how investment and wealth platforms operate. We’re growing fast, we value collaboration and execution, and we’re serious about building the future of fund administration and advice platforms. Automation is right at the heart of that journey.

About the Role
As our first Automation Engineer, you’ll work closely with the business (and with the Chief AI Officer) to find, design, and deliver automations end-to-end across Operations and onboarding. This role is a blend of:
  • BA-style discovery (talking to humans, mapping processes, clarifying requirements), and
  • Technical delivery (building workflows/tools that “stick”).
This role sits at the intersection of Business Analysis and hands-on delivery. You’ll spend time with teams to understand how work really happens, clarify requirements, map pain points, and then build automation.

What you’ll do
  • Identify inefficiencies, get to root causes, and prioritise automations with teams
  • Build and maintain automations
  • Translate business needs into working solutions + documentation + rollout
  • Work through an existing Jira backlog, validating and executing solutions
  • Reduce duplication, manual handoffs, and errors in critical processes
There's flexibility in the automation tools you use, and ideally you'll come with some ideas of good practice for implementing automation. The tools may be low/no-code or automation workflow tools (Power Platform, n8n, etc) or you might prefer a coded approach. It's more important you come with a willingness to learn and engage with new tools.

About You
Ideally, you'll have experience improving processes and building automation, gathering the requirements for the automation, and being able to communicate to stakeholders.

The mindset we're looking for is someone who is curious, practical, and willing to experiment but maintaining a focus on delivery. You'll be comfortable working with incomplete information, and proactive about clarifying it. You'll be thoughtful about quality, security, and maintainability - not just making it work once.

Key qualities include:
  • You can run discovery (interviews/workshops), simplify messy processes, and write clear requirements.
  • You can build using automation tools, and you’re comfortable diving into code/scripts when needed.
  • You’re pragmatic and can ship improvements quickly, document clearly, and iterate with users.
Beneficial experience:
  • Using integrations such as via REST APIs
  • Scripting (Python, PowerShell)
  • Using AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Copilot, ChatGPT.
  • Some knowledge of SQL databases and SQL queries
  • Familiarity with the Power Platform / Power Automate, or a similar low code automation environment
We're collaborating with Kin to bring you this exciting opportunity. Please submit your CV, cover letter, explaining why you're the ideal candidate for this position. If you have questions or want to learn more before applying, feel free to get in touch with [email protected] for a confidential korero.

Applications close 27 January.

*Please note to be eligible for this opportunity, you will hold a valid Work Visa that allows you to be employed in New Zealand.
