About us
For 28 years, GCT (Glenn Cook Technologies) has been the trusted technology partner for local, NZ and Australian businesses. We deliver managed IT services, structured cabling, and learning solutions that drive digital innovation and enable organisations to adapt, improve and thrive.  We've built our reputation on innovative solutions, genuine value, responsive service, and honest advice. We’re a tight-knit local team making a big impact, offering the broadest range of tech solutions across health, education, professional services and trades in the Hawkes Bay.

We're at an exciting stage of growth and are looking for someone exceptional to shape the future of technology services with us.

The opportunity
This is more than just a technical role—it's a key leadership position where you'll drive and enable our innovation agenda, architect scalable and fit for purpose solutions and build trusted partnerships internally and with our clients.   For the right person, there's opportunity to progress to a CTO role as we continue to grow our business.  You'll work from our modern office in the heart of Hastings, with fantastic bars and eateries on our doorstep.

Day to day you’ll:
  • Lead innovation and build our expertise in new technologies, evaluating them against our strategic goals, writing POCs and providing training and documentation
  • Package new products and service offerings for scalable delivery to our clients
  • Establish, evolve and refine technology solutions and technical architecture spanning IT managed service, cloud, cybersecurity, telephony, data centre, data network, wireless, nurse call, and access control.
  • Own security governance, ensuring compliance with recognised frameworks and standards, and overseeing risk and audit activity for service offerings.
  • Serve as virtual CIO for select clients, becoming their trusted technology advisor
  • Mentor and guide our team through new technologies and complex technical challenges
  • Provide expertise to support sales and engineering teams with technical feasibility, scoping, pricing and proposal development
  • Partner with clients to understand their business and deliver solutions that enable their success

About you
You bring deep technical expertise in digital infrastructure, cloud and software.  With your managed services, consulting and/or product development experience, you’ll be commercially savvy and able to translate complex technical concepts into business value.  As well as being passionate about emerging tech, you're genuinely customer-focused and energised by enabling their success through smart, fit for purpose technology solutions. You’ll also be a collaborative team player with a relationship building style grounded in partnership and trust.

Your technical toolkit includes the following (or similar):
  • Microsoft Office 365 and Azure
  • Veeam backup solutions
  • Hyper-V virtualisation
  • 3CX phone systems
  • WatchGuard cybersecurity
  • Aruba and Ubiquiti networking
  • Data centre operations and management
Experience with CCTV, access control, nurse call systems, and/or in the health or education sectors would be an advantage.
