The Electricity Engineers' Association (EEA) is the electricity supply industry’s largest and most diverse membership association, with members across the sector from generation to the consumer gate.  Our services cover guidance, learning, and connection for electricity sector workers across traditional and emerging technology, as well as innovation in data and communications. 

The energy landscape is rapidly changing and so is the EEA, with an ambitious goal to be bolder, more innovative and inclusive, so that the full diversity of our community can see themselves in us, and lead more for the sector.

The role 
Reporting into the CEO, this is a pivotal position where you will be able to make a significant impact within of our small and talented team. As Marketing and Communications Lead you’ll be responsible for leading and delivering tactical marketing and communications strategies that grow the EEA’s visibility, mana and influence, enabling it to better serve its members and stakeholders.   

We have some big goals to increase our impact in how we support the Aotearoa electricity sector. We’ll need your expertise to develop marketing and engagement tactics, oversee the roll out of our brand and membership model refresh through channels including our refreshed website, and support the CEO with membership engagement and PR.
  
This is a full-time position based in our Wellington office (with flexibility to work from home). We’d also consider part-time 4 days a week for the right candidate.
   
Core responsibilities will include: 
  • Developing tactical marketing and communications strategies that are aligned to our vision and strategic objectives. 
  • Oversee the roll out of the brand and membership model refresh for EEA, showcasing our future goals and enhancing public awareness of our services and impact.  
  • Supporting the Chief Executive with internal and external communications.
  • Engaging with our members and stakeholders through regular newsletters and informative updates on our services 
  • Supporting a wide range of digital platforms and developing engaging and targeted content for our website, social media and email marketing campaigns. 
  • Proactively pursuing and leveraging media and other PR opportunities.
  • Preparing speeches, media statements, press releases, and briefing notes for the Chief Executive as required.

A bit about you
  
We are seeking a Marketing and Communications professional with experience at an intermediate to senior level.  Ideally you’ll have experience in a technical, engineering or scientific setting, or have comfort and interest in communicating technical information.  
  
You’ll be a critical thinker who enjoys a challenge and knows how to manage initiatives from idea to execution. As a member of a small team, you’ll need to be a proactive, agile and collaborative team player who is happy to be hands-on in delivering across a broad range of marketing and communications activities.

What you’ll bring:  
  • 5+ years’ experience in the development and implementation of marketing and communications strategies and plans. 
  • Exceptional writing and content creation skills with a deep understanding of how to write for a specific audience and adapt style and language to meet their needs.
  • Comfortable interpreting and articulating technical concepts in communicating with audiences.  
  • Experience developing, executing and optimising marketing campaigns for a variety of channels and demographics. 
  • Technical proficiency in designing and uploading web content and utilising digital channels
  • A keenness to innovate, learn and grow and deliver impact.
  • Up to date with current affairs and awareness of the broader political/government context.  
  • Experience in managing a website upgrade would be an advantage, but is not a must-have
  • Nice to have: knowledge of the electricity supply industry (but we can teach you!)
