About the Zero Waste Tāmaki Makaurau Trust
The Zero Waste Tāmaki Makaurau Trust is a newly established charitable organisation committed to supporting Community Recycling Centre operators across Auckland. Our mission is to maximise landfill diversion through reuse and recycling, create local jobs, and foster a thriving circular economy while incorporating Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles into our work. We distribute funding, foster collaboration, and provide governance support to ensure the sector is well-resourced and future-focused

About the role - Lead the Trust ensuring growth, sustainability and alignment with strategy and objectives.
- Oversee management of the funding agreement with Auckland Council, while seeking new opportunities to grow the network and funding streams
- Build strong, respectful and supportive relationships with all CRC operators
- Develop and deliver on the annual budget and financial strategy, ensuring objectives are met and funds effectively utilised.
- Develop and implement a policy framework, that supports effective management, as well as compliance with all health and safety, and legislative requirements.
- Contribute to the Trust’s commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and embedding te ao Māori across its mahi
About You - Extensive proven experience in a leadership role within the sustainability or social enterprise sector
- Strong strategic, financial and contract management skills
- A skilled relationship builder who confidently engages with diverse stakeholders and builds a culture of collaboration and respect
- Well networked, with superior influencing skills, emotional intelligence and diplomacy.
- Passionate about sustainability and operational excellence, with deep understanding of values-aligned service delivery
- Grounded in Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and able to embed Te Ao Māori perspectives into policy development and decision making.
