Finance Manager

As our Finance Manager, you will be managing the day to day accounting, payroll, and specific HR-related functions. Ideally you will have experience within the charity sector and will bring a background in practice management, commercial acumen and extensive accounting expertise, with a deep understanding of how this impacts a charity.  This is a work from home role and can be based anywhere in Aotearoa New Zealand – we are open to a contracting arrangement.

About the role …
  • Positive, rewarding mahi, as part of a supportive, passionate team who have your back.
  • Effectively managing financial and HR functions for the Trust, including day-to-day reconciliation of Xero and fortnightly payroll
  • Management of cashflow, forecasting, budgeting, along with GST and annual accounts
  • Collaborate with the wider team to provide expertise and ensure an integrated approach aligned to our strategy
  • Support our goals to provide an equitable workplace, and our commitment to honour the spirit of partnership with Māori embodied in Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • 12 hours per week (potentially up to 15 hours during annual budget and audit projects) working remotely as a part-time employee or contractor.  
About you …
  • You care about the community, the environment and are passionate about having a positive impact and improving the lives of others.
  • Strong background in accounting, finance and HR systems, with a focus on NFPs
  • Experience and competency in everyday business accounting and HR: including competency with Xero, payroll systems (Ipayroll) and CRMs (Salesforce)
  • Creative flair, highly organised and flexible. You have a can do attitude, and can adapt to the changing needs of a small, ambitious charity
  • Proven ability to think strategically and turn it into actions that make a difference on the ground
  • Ability to use communications systems to work with a geographically dispersed team.
  • Commitment to grow your understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how this applies to your mahi for Garden to Table
  • Use of everyday te reo is an advantage, but willingness to learn and grow your reo is essential.

  • A salary between $75,000 - $88,000 pro rata, depending on the experience someone is bringing to the role, with $20 per fortnight toward working from home expenses.
