A unique opportunity for a passionate leader to drive real impact in New Zealand’s regional tourism sector. As General Manager you will have the chance to lead a well-respected National body organisation, while providing thought leadership, advocacy and capacity building, to ensure the long-term resilience and prosperity of the regions. Through your role, you will make a meaningful contribution to the future of tourism in Aotearoa NZ, creating last legacies for communities, the environment and the economy. 25-30 hours per week.

RTNZ advocates for RTOs interests, fosters collaboration and provides strategic leadership to support sustainable development. About the role …  
  • Further develop and implement strategies that ensure a sustainable future, while upholding the Kaupapa of the organisation.
  • Build and foster relationships with central and local government, a range of industry stakeholders, mana whenua and the wider tourism industry.
  • Provide strategic leadership and policy development, that is aligned with sector changes and development, and that reflects proactive, progressive thinking.
  • Ensure continuous learning and growth for the RTOs through the delivery of professional development opportunities
  • Oversee day-to-day operations including financial management, governance support and compliance.
  • Create, plan and facilitate a calendar of events that foster engagement, learning and alignment with strategic goals.
  
 About you …  
  • A credible, influential leader, able to develop collaborative partnerships with a range of stakeholders, including media and public relations agencies.
  • An outstanding communicator capable of navigating complex and ambiguous environments.
  • Strong understanding of the workings of the New Zealand tourism system, destination management and stewardship practices.
  • Strong financial acumen, governance experience and programme management
  • You have an understanding of Te Ao Māori and support our commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Self-motivated and able to thrive working from a home office, and able to travel to the regions when required.
