About the role The Kaitohu Kēhi, me ngā Tūraru | Case and Risk Advisor is a newly created role, reporting to the Tumu Whakarae/Kairehita | CE/Registrar and working closely with the Kairēhita Tuarua | Deputy Registrar. You’ll manage a diverse portfolio of health, competence, and conduct notifications that directly support the safety and quality of paramedic care across Aotearoa. Alongside case management, you’ll contribute to the review of professional Standards, support our risk management approach, and help embed Te Tiriti o Waitangi across our work.
The role is interesting, complex and nuanced. You’ll be well supported with expertise from our small tight-knit team and empowered to bring your experience and ideas to continuously improve our processes.
This is a full-time permanent role based in our Willeston Street office, with flexibility to attend to life’s challenges and needs when required. The salary range is $65,000 to $85,000 per annum.
What you’ll do: - Manage notifications and complaints relating to health, competence, and conduct, from stakeholder engagement through to documentation and triage committee support.
- Ensure clear, mana-enhancing, respectful communication with paramedics, complainants, respondents and other parties.
- Lead reviews and improvements of professional Standards, coordinating with Professional Advisors to ensure they reflect best practice and sector trends.
- Organise education and training initiatives that build understanding and promote awareness of professional standards within paramedicine.
- Develop and maintain risk identification and mitigation strategies, including managing our risk register and advising on emerging issues.
- Monitor and analyse trends from the health sector and case data to continuously improve our processes and proactively advise on risk.
- Actively engage with our commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, building your own cultural capability and applying equity and tikanga in daily work.

About you We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their work and is resilient, proactive and forward thinking. You’ll be known for your ability to work calmly and professionally with sensitive issues. You’ll also ideally bring:
- Experience in case/notifications management, ideally in a regulatory, health or compliance setting.
- Strong understanding of health, competence, and conduct issues, and regulatory frameworks in Aotearoa New Zealand.
- Knowledge or interest in risk management principles and professional standards.
- Outstanding interpersonal, communication and conflict resolution skills, with a high level of confidentiality, and a warm, respectful, culturally safe approach.
- A high level of organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases and tasks concurrently.
- Strong analytical and decision-making abilities, with a focus on fairness and integrity.
- An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, tikanga and/or te reo Māori, or a willingness to grow cultural capability.
