The Opportunity
We create positive impact by advocating for change to systems that cause harm, and by delivering services that support people experiencing and recovering from harm.
The Senior Advisor Social Policy & Advocacy, plays an important role in both of those things, and so in achieving our mission and strategy. You’ll drive and enable our point of view on social issues and our advocacy response.
Taking a people centred social-service approach to all of your work, you’ll: - Work closely to enable and empower the thought leadership of the CE.
- Be deeply informed about the current context for women and girls experience hardship in Aotearoa.
- Establish our point of view on social policy related to our work in this area and what works to reduce harm.
- Contribute to the national body of knowledge about women and girls experiencing hardship by writing papers, speaking through media, conferences and influencing our research programme.
- Advocate for changes to systems by authoring Government submissions, media commentary and more.
- Influence our wider efforts across service delivery, client experience and communications.
We think you will have the following to set you up well for this opportunity: - Experience in a policy advisor role, especially in an NGO or a public sector social services agency.
- Experience, understanding and a passion for mission-driven organisations and the social sector.
- Context knowledge of what is causing harm and disadvantaging women, girls and their families in Aotearoa.
- Ecosystem knowledge – who else is operating in similar spaces so we can influence and/or partner to further our impact.
- Advocacy skills with the ability to deliver messages with impact to engage and motivate change.
- An engaging and inclusive interpersonal style to ensure cohesion and collaboration.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting to inform decision-making.
- Te Tiriti knowledge and how to apply it to your work, products and services.
