The role, and what it’s all about.
Our office is located on the north shore and is the hub of our team environment.  When not in the office you can expect to be working onsite across Auckland with a company vehicle, or remotely via company-provided laptop and phone.  As a Systems Engineer, your role will encompass phone, email, and face to face communication, and you will be hands-on in this busy diverse and self-managing role.  The role is  for 40 hours per week, within business hours, however flexibility will be required from time to time, and an allowance will be paid for any week's when you are rostered on-call.

In addition, day to day you will:
  • Design, implement, troubleshoot, analyse and maintain the IT Infrastructure of customer environments.
  • Create project plans, design, and implement solutions.
  • Provide Level 2 and Level 3 Support for problems identified with systems and network.
  • Support escalated Level 1 and Level 2 issues.
  • Create, request, and present technical specifications and requirements for purchasing of new systems and networking equipment via quote procedure.
  • Perform standard system administration duties.
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve network problems including network connectivity, traffic utilisation etc.
  • Provide infrastructure services in all areas needed including storage networking, operating system, network security etc.
  • Participate in after-hours upgrades, troubleshooting, and/or on-call availability as needed.
Let’s talk about you
We are looking for a client focused engineer, who is willing to go the extra mile and takes pride in delivering a high standard of work.  You will have strong generalist experience, with a minimum of 3 years within a MSP, ideally with a wide range of small to medium clients and onsite responsibilities.  A passion for CyberSecurity, and a mindset of continuous improvement are also a must have.  In addition, we are looking for:

Essential:
  • Minimum 5+ years generalist experience in a technical support role which MUST include a minimum of 3+ years with a MSP, supporting clients onsite.
  • Experience with PaaS & Virtualisation platforms e.g., MS Azure or Hyper-V.
  • Experience with CyberSecurity software, specifically Fortinet.
  • Hands on familiarity with server hardware and common network equipment, ege.g., Firewalls, VLAN'd switches, wireless networks and standard desktop and server administration - Windows 10, Windows 11, Server 2019, Remote Desktop, Office365 etc.
  • A full driver’s licence (with a clean record).
  • Coachability - we will put effort into your career and support you.
  • Evidence of recent certifications and a desire to keep learning.
  • Demonstrable experience providing top level customer care and going the extra mile.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred:
  • Microsoft & relevant Certifications: e.g., MS100 /MS101 / MS104 / MS500 / Security+.
  • Familiarity with RMM & PSA tools such as Connectwise and SolarwindsRMM, or similar.
  • 3CX or VoIP familiarity.
  • Able to work flexible hours (businesses don't like outages during the day).
  • Virtualisation platforms - VMWare and/or Hyper-V.
  • Data Backup & Recovery Strategies.
