A bit about us …
Age Concern NZ is a charity dedicated to the well-being of people over 65, their friends and whanau. We proactively promote dignity, equity and respect for older people, ensuring their issues are heard and their needs for social connection with family, friends and the community are met, and their well-being is reflected in their quality of life. We are on a dedicated journey to becoming the charity of significance for older people in Aotearoa.
About the role …  
  • Champion Age Concern NZ, representing and promoting the organisation across Aotearoa.
  • Uphold our Kaupapa, and lead by example in the acknowledgement and respect for the cultural diversity of communities across Aotearoa
  • Building effective relationships with a range of stakeholders, member organisations, local and central government organisations, funders, and the media.
  • Create positive employee engagement through effective leadership, continuous feedback and identifying areas for training to encourage personal and professional development
  • Responsible for strategic and financial planning and management, including the development of sustainable funding opportunities.  
 About you …  
  • You demonstrate contemporary, inspirational leadership that empowers the team to embrace ownership of their development and provides opportunities for them to do so.
  • You support our commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and will lead others in its practical, day to day application
  • A market-savvy, outstanding communicator with high EQ, capable of navigating complex relationships and working collaboratively to influence others.
  • You will love to innovate and so do we, as we adapt to the changing needs of the sector, our members and the community we serve.
  • You are forward thinking and resilient, with a creative approach to problem solving and a positive mindset.
  • Experience in the not-for-profit sector is an advantage, while equally important is your ability to lead with empathy and a passion for seeing older people improve their social connectedness and quality of life.
