While the Cancer Society’s mission is to improve community wellbeing by reducing the incidence and impact of cancer throughout the entire country, with a revised strategic plan and equity charter in place from 2021, we are also focused on overcoming the inequalities relating to prevention, care and survivorship facing Māori, Pacifika and other minority groups throughout New Zealand
  
We are looking for somebody to champion our plight by keeping our website up to date and communicating the important issues that continue to keep us on the cusp of emerging initiatives within the Cancer realm. Reporting into the Communications Manager this role based at National Office in Wellington CBD, will have engage with the National Office staff, Divisional Managers and work with a wide variety of external stakeholders.
  
  
About the role:
To be successful in this role, you will have prior experience in website management with the focus on delivering great content to people with cancer, their whānau, and our supporters. While maintaining an elevated level of detail and accuracy in the work that you do, you will also be happy to assist in projects across the wider team. We are passionate about what we do and work highly collaboratively across the society. We want somebody that can prove their ability to be self-directed, self-motivated, and work autonomously yet cohesively with a wide range of personalities while taking a pro-active, mindful, considered approach. Key accountabilities include:
  
  • Actively contribute to the ongoing development of the website and other digital products
  • Create website content, refining complex information into information accessible to all New Zealanders in a consistent tone and voice
  • Manage and triage change requests for the website
  • Provide active support and facilitation to specific projects when needed

Along with the knowledge and expertise from your proven website development and communications expertise you will take pride in your ability to present information visually in a compelling and easily understood manner. 71 people are diagnosed with cancer every day and Māori are twice as likely to die from cancer as non-Māori.
