About the role 
We’re looking for a Junior SRE to join our newly established Gold Coast team. In this role, you will provide second level support for Modica’s software applications, networking, and infrastructure. You will problem solve for our customers, investigating technical issues and resolving these within agreed SLAs.  
  
Day-to-day, this role will: 
  • Set-up new carrier connections and new customers  
  • Support and set up Modica’s internal applications and systems 
  • Document processes, adding to our knowledge base where appropriate 
  • Look for improvements and opportunities to automate 
  • Assist with staff training on technical systems and changes 
We are still setting up our new office so you will initially be working from home and will need a dedicated space where you can do this. Once our new office location is established, you will work from there as our team continues to grow. In time, this role will also become part of our on-call roster which will involve weekend and after-hours work on a rotational basis.  
 
About you 
If you have a minimum of 1-2 years work experience in a Technical Support, Junior SRE or tier two Support Engineer role; we are keen to hear from you!  What you will need to be is driven, innovative, and hungry to learn. As this is the first hire for our new Gold Coast office, you will need to be a self-starter with the motivation to work on your own. We will support you remotely initially and it won’t be long before you have other teammates locally and a new office space to work from.   
  
The skills essential for this role are: 
  • Experience with Linux 
  • Strong work ethic 
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written 
  • Excellent customer service skills 
  • Strong attention to detail 
You may also have experience with: 
  • BASH (Shell scripting) 
  • SQL  
  • Puppet 
  • Terraform 
  • AWS 
  • Atlassian 
  • Research and trouble shooting 
  • A second language (Spanish would be a real plus!)
