Located in the Wellington CBD, our close-knit team is searching for a confident and tenacious Policy and Science Manager to join us. The role
This senior role is one you can really make your own.
In partnership with AgResearch, a key part of your role will be to ensure that investment from the deer industry is converted into real solutions and the results are used and appreciated by our deer farmers, processors and marketers
You will lead the development of the deer farm and deer products research strategy. As Policy and Science Manager, you will be the key DINZ contact on regulatory matters affecting the deer sector, liaising closing with other staff on matters that affect their portfolios
This role will see you consulting with a broad range of stakeholders, providing advice on policy and building lasting relationships.
You will be required to travel domestically, this role will call for the occasional night away. About you
You will be a big picture thinker with an unbridled enthusiasm for making a difference. You'll deeply understand and enjoy the policy development process. Known for your consultative style, you will be equally comfortable taking a lead position.
We are looking for someone with:
- Relationship building and stakeholder engagement skills which are second to none
- Demonstrated leadership across diverse groups
- The ability to influence and negotiate across all levels
- Broad, practical knowledge of policy development and implementation as it relates to production agriculture
- Deer farming knowledge a plus
Ideally you will have come from a similar environment, however, industry specific knowledge and experience can be learned.
